Voice recorder + MKE 400 + D90

So I was thinking about ways to easily get better sound with the D90 for more casual use (no boom poles). I was thinking the MKE 400 is pretty popular with the 5D II, so what if I plugged that into a small flash voice recorder like the this guy: Amazon.com: Sony ICDUX70 Digital Voice Recorder MP3 Stereo Recording and Playback: Electronics

I hope I'm not bringing up an old topic. I scanned old threads to see if it had already been talked about, but didn't see anything.

The reason I'd use the small recorder instead of a H2 or H4 is that it's small and I could probably attach it to the MKE 400 and have it ride on top of the camera. Then I'd just hit record twice instead of once.

I'm worried about audio levels though. Would a recorder like that auto adjust and so I'd get uneven levels throughout the clip? Would it even be acceptable audio quality?
